I have been prepping for 12 or more years. I have learned a lot of what to do and a lot of what not to do. Sometimes the hard way.
Since we cannot forecast what kind of event might trigger SHTF, it is not possible to know exactly what we might need. Prepping is not an exact science so don`t stress over having everything perfect. The basics first. Water. Food. Shelter. Then medicine, fuel, tools, firepower, and so on. Consider your circumstances and what resources you already have. Your location ( bug out or hunker down ).Form your plan. Maybe write it down. this will be a work in progress so don`t expect to get set up in the first 30 days. Do your homework. There is a lot of info out there. Hopefully you can get your family onboard. This will be a huge asset. I am prepping for 14 people ( family ), for a year. Most of them admit a need for prepping. Not everyone is as sold on the idea as I am. They are prepping in their own way. And not all prepping is aimed at " doomsday ". For instance, right now with the flu epidemic, we have dipped in to supplies just so we don`t have to go out in public and be possibly exposed to the virus. ( coffee and such ). Not to worry, the others will show up when SHTF and I will have plenty for them to do. There is strength in numbers so talk to your people and try to figure out how they are thinking.
This post is somewhat for the beginner but I will post more info on what I have learned in future post. I think I will start out with Water. Water is something you MUST have right up front. Remember the rule of 3`s.
God Bless you, and God Bless America.
